GRAPHIC DESGIN STEPS
1. Define Objective
Understand the purpose of the graphic — Is it for advertising, branding, information, or social media?
Identify the target audience — Age, gender, interests, geography.
Decide the platform — Instagram, Facebook, Print, Web Banner, YouTube, etc.
2. Research & Moodboarding
Analyze competitors or similar designs in the industry.
Create a moodboard with:
Color palettes
Typography inspiration
Layout ideas
Images and textures
3. Concept Development & Wireframing
Brainstorm visual ideas based on the brief.
Make rough sketches or layout wireframes.
Decide the flow of content and visual hierarchy (what catches the eye first, second, etc.).
4. Set Canvas Size & Resolution
Choose dimensions based on medium:
Print: A4, A3, etc. @ 300 DPI (CMYK mode).
Digital/Social Media: 1080×1080, 1920×1080, etc. @ 72 DPI (RGB mode).
Set bleed and margin for print.
5. Collect & Organize Assets
Gather brand materials: logos, fonts, product images, icons.
Use licensed stock images or create custom illustrations.
Create a folder structure for easy management (Assets, Fonts, Drafts, Exports).
6. Design the Layout
Open your software and set up grids, columns, and guides.
Place elements based on importance:
Title or focal image
Supporting text or visuals
Call-to-action (CTA)
7. Apply Design Principles
Balance: Symmetrical/asymmetrical layouts that feel stable.
Contrast: Dark/light, size difference, bold fonts to grab attention.
Alignment: Every element should align with another.
Repetition: Reuse style elements (color, shape, font) for consistency.
White space: Leave breathing room around content.
8. Feedback & Revision Process
Present first draft to client or team.
Use PDF or JPG previews with notes.
Apply revisions and polish the design.
9. Final Check
Check:
Spelling and grammar
Color consistency
Logo placement
Correct DPI and resolution
All layers are named and organized (for future editing)
10. Export in Proper Formats
Save:
.PSD / .AI / .INDD – Editable master file.
.JPG / .PNG – For web or social.
.PDF – For print or professional sharing.
.SVG / .EPS – For logos and scalable vectors
